Then you might be our new star we are looking for to join our API Management team in API & Innovation Platform area to contribute to our efforts in a modern, scalable, secure and highly adopted API Management platform.
API Platform & Services aims to partner across the organization to help product and platform teams providing best of the breed platform solution and services to manage APIs and Events. We are enabler to provide technical platform, governance, tools, technology, and framework for end-to-end API lifecycle management.

API Platform & Services is part of Vestas' newly established Digital Solutions organization responsible for driving end-to-end digitalization of Vestas over the coming years. As part of the Products and Platform Area, we provide API Management platform with latest and greatest features which enables our API teams and developers to build, manage and securely publish their APIs. You will be responsible for architecture, design, development, and maintenance of API Management platform together with other colleagues from API management team.

 

Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and motivated API Management specialist with a blend of platform design architecture and hands-on experience in designing and building modern API management platform. As a key member of our API Platform & Services team, you will play a crucial role in architecture, design, development, and maintenance of API Management platform enabling developer, API consumers from various platform and products teams across Vestas. Together with other colleagues from API management team, you will be responsible for:

  • Design, implement and maintain API management platform solution and services by implementing core platform features, governance, standards, and the best practices.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of APIs, including creation, deployment, versioning, and retirement.
  • Implement processes for API testing, monitoring, and address & resolve issues related to API integration.
  • Work closely with digital platform and product teams, including developers, architects, and business analysts, to understand API platform requirements and business goals, can foster collaboration with external partners and third-party developers when necessary.
  • Develop and implement API governance policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive API documentation to facilitate ease of use for developers.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in API management area.

 

Qualifications 

To succeed with above responsibilities, we envision that you hold a relevant bachelor's or masters´ degree (IT, Technology, Engineering or similar) and 3+ years' experience working in API management combined with the following:

  • Proven experience in building and operating API management platform ex. KONG or similar along with good understanding of API management components - API gateway, micro/edge gateway, Developer Portal/API marketplace.
  • Experience in implementing API security standards and protocols (e.g., OAuth2.0, JWT, mTLS).
  • Knowledge of Service mesh architecture and it will be plus to have experience in service mesh implementation.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud computing platforms like Azure or AWS and container technologies - Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience in DevOps practices and tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and experience in API logging and monitoring using tools like Splunk or similar. 
  • Knowledge of API lifecycle management from design, creation, deployment till retirement and hands on experience in working with API documentation open API spec or swagger documentation.
  • Good understanding of design patterns, best practices, and industry trends in API development and management ex. REST, SOAP, graphQL, asynAPI and similar
