VPS Region NCE represents the corporate product & technology organisation Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) in the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit Northern & Central Europe (NCE), spanning from Ireland to Russia and Norway to the Balkans and across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with On- & Offshore wind at the core. Our main responsibilities centre around technical contracting, technical value engineering, customisation and execution, regional product market requirements, product integrity management, and ensuring grid compliance.

The Electrical Engineer's tasks are to support our customers in designing and building highly advanced and compliant wind power plants and track the changes in electrical grid requirements. This role will be focused on the Northern European mainly Nordic-speaking markets with international opportunities, yet predominantly across the Sales regions in North and Central Europe (NCE).

 

The NCE Power Plant Solutions team consists of an international electrical engineering team. It is part of the VPS Region NCE, Technical Sales Management supporting the organization in providing solutions to our customers across Northern, Central & Eastern Europe.

 

Responsibilities

Your main responsibility as an Electrical Engineer in the NCE Power Plant Solutions team will be to:

  • Effectively contribute to the technical value engineering of customer renewable energy projects from the electrical side and contribute to technical negotiations of the Sales team consisting of highly qualified experts in their respective fields With a focus on the electrical project configuration and compliance with requirements from customers and grid transmission operators, you ensure timely responses to customer enquiries, research and prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders
  • Take ownership of relevant parts of technical risk assessment & mitigation during the Value Engineering/Negotiation phase and therefore own the relevant technical annexes and contract schedules
  • Collect relevant electrical data and customer/site/grid requirements for project grid integration studies and request studies for Engineering Pre-Design (EPD)
  • Review EPD study reports and evaluate for external use while supporting customers to optimize projects using the EPD study results
  • Taking accountability beyond the initial Sales phase, you technically support the Construction and commissioning phase, prepare grid compliance test protocols (plans and procedures), and support during test execution

 

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar position regulatory electrical requirements and grid codes
  • Knowledge of power system evaluations and studies (steady state and transient studies such as short circuit, load flow, FRT, and power quality)
  • Knowledge of power system simulation software such as DIgSILENT/PSCAD/PSSE
  • Knowledge of HV and MV equipment and power systems with a great understanding of primary and secondary systems
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and networks, PLC hardware, SCADA systems and communication interfaces would be highly beneficial
  • Project management experience within the wind industry would be advantageous

 

Competencies

  • Solid technical skills with a problem problem-solving attitude and root-cause failure analysis
  • High level of communication and presentation skills with both written and spoken English, additional Nordic language is beneficial
  • Highly organised and able to prioritize daily work in a fast-moving environment
  • Highly motivated and skilled at stakeholder management (customers, grid operators, conferences including product management R&D)
  • A result-oriented customer-focused individual who can work with little supervision and within an international team
